A: You must first be at least 18 years of age to apply for a Real Estate Broker License. Secondly, you must show Proof of Legal Presence in the U.S. If you are an out=of-state applicant, residence in California is not required, but you must show proof of qualifications of the statutory courses from the out-of-state institution you completed your course units at just as long as the institution is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (or an equally valid regional crediting entity). If it is a foreign institution, they must be evaluated by a foreign credential evaluation service. Thirdly, a minimum of two years full-time licensed salesperson experience within the last five years or the equivalent is required.
2. Q: If I went to college in a foreign country is my experience valid for the California Real Estate Brokers Exam?
A: Yes. Courses from a college in a foreign country will be valid for the California Real Estate Brokers Exam. However, the courses must be evaluated by a foreign credentials evaluation service approved by the California DRE Office.
3. Q: Is it possible for me to apply for both the California Real Estate Salesperson exam and the California Real Estate Broker Exam at the same time?
A: Yes. You can apply for both California Real Estate License Exams at the same time, but keep in mind that the real estate broker license supersedes the real estate salesperson license. If you are interested in obtaining your California Real Estate Brokers License, it is best to go straight to that exam.
4. Q: How much are the fees for the Broker License Exam?
A: It is $50 for the original examination as well as a re-examination. It costs $15 for the first rescheduled exam, but $25 for subsequent rescheduled exams |
